Mehndi has been replaced by different colored nail polishes. Certain colors are created with mehndi. Also, the color of mehndi cannot come off when desired. Because of this, the latest nail polish has quickly overtaken mehndi. Because of this, mehndi is applied on special occasions. But, nail polish can be removed as soon as it comes to mind and can be applied in different shades that will suit the color of the saree and dress.
The term manicure is not limited to the act of painting the nails, but manicure includes hand massage, nail care and nail painting. Scientific care of hands is called ‘manicure’.
A set of tools is available as a manicure set for doing manicure. It includes scissors, a fine knife, pusher, orange stick, clipper etc. There is material. Apart from this, cotton, nail polish remover, hand cream, base coat, top coat, nail polish, hot water, towel are required. The important tasks in manicure are shaping the nails, cleaning the nails and massaging the hands.
Materials required for manicure and their use –
1) Manicure table – for manicure.
2) Chair – for the client and you to sit.
3) Trays or trolleys – to hold materials.
4) Bowl – to hold hot water.
5) Towel – to wipe hands.
6) Cotton – To remove nail polish and clean nails.
7) Nail file – for shaping nails.
8) Orange stick – to remove dirt from the inside of the nails as well as remove the nail paint on the sides of the nails.
9) Cuticle Cutter – To remove or cut the cuticle near the nails.
10) Pusher – to push back or stretch the skein near the nails.
11) Nail Cleaner – To clean nails and hands.
12) Nailbrush – To clean nails.
13) Cuticle Lotion (Cuticle Softener / Remover) – For loosening of the cuticles near the nails.
14) Nail polish remover – To remove nail polish.
15) Basecoat – Top coat – to fill in the cracks in the nails and to add shine to the nail paint to match.
16) Hand and Body Lotion / Cream – For massaging the hands.
Action –
1) First all the materials given above should be properly arranged on the table so that it does not have to be lifted while doing manicure. Take hot water in two plastic bowls. Put two drops of soap or shampoo in it.
2) First remove the nail polish remover on the cotton and remove the previous color from the nails. Nails should be cleaned. If the nail polish is too dark, remove it from the corners of the nails with the help of an orange stick. And shape the nails. Cuticle remover liquid should be applied to the orange stick by covering it with cotton.
If this is not achieved, apply a light hand rub of any oil. This softens the thick skin known as the cuticle that grows near the nail root and helps to remove it if it is not overgrown. The growth of the nails is slightly stunted by this skin. It needs to be softened and pushed back or removed.
3) Keep both hands one after the other in hot water for about 5 minutes.
4) After this the raised skin near the cuticle should be gently pulled away or removed using scissors, clippers or pushers. There is a thick skin near the nails in the corners of the fingers. Such skin should be cut with scissors or clippers. Care should be taken not to touch the actual nail roots and cut the cuticle while doing this.
5) After this, clean the dirt under the nails with orange step.
6) After this once again put your hand in hot water and take a nail brush and clean it up to the entire finger, then take out your hand and dry it.
7) Use an emery board or a nail file to shape the nails. Nails should not be too sharp or too square. The sides should be circular and the bottom should be straight. This process is called nail filing.
8) Once again, gently file under the nails with an emery board. After this, take a little hand cream on the hand and massage the whole hand. Grasp each finger between the first and middle fingers and pull them towards the nails. While massaging the other hand, massage should be done from the fingernail to the side of the wrist. If there is no hand cream, cold cream should be used.
9) After massaging the hands, wipe off the cream on the nails and apply colorless polish as a nail base under the nail polish. Therefore, if there are lines or notches on the nails, they come off. And the nail polish stays on well.
10) While applying nail polish, apply it in three strokes and give a very thin layer.
When not to get a manicure –
Manicure can be done anytime. But sometimes manicure is not done.
1) If there is an open wound on the skin of the hand.
2) If there is skin disease.
3) If the skin is sensitive.
4) If recent arm fracture, rod or splint inserted in arm.
5) Eczema.
6) If a client has diabetes, wooden materials should be used. But during this treatment the client should not have any injury. Take care of this.
Care to be taken while doing manicure –
1) Fully sterilized equipment should be used.
2) All equipment should be washed with Dettol before or after use.
3) All utensils used by diabetic clients should be wooden.
4) Do not file hard while filing the nails.
5) If the nail file is not done in the same direction, there is a possibility of cutting the nails and causing pain. The length of the nails should not be too long because they break while working. In case of damage to the inside of the nails, there is a possibility of breaking the nails, so the length of the nails should not be too long.
6) If a client gets a cut during manicure, apply antiseptic lotion or cream immediately to avoid germ infection.
7) While filing the nails, the corners of the nails should not be filed inwards.
8) Fingers and hands should be considered while shaping the nails.
9) Be careful not to cut the skin while removing the cuticle.
10) If any chemical is used while applying false nails then it must be used carefully. Because sometimes chemicals react.
Manicure Massage –
A hand massage is done during the manicure treatment in the parlour. This massage benefits the client with complete relaxation and blood circulation. Also, if there is wrinkled skin, its amount is reduced. While doing this massage, it is important to have uniformity in your hands. The pressure in the massage should be as much as the client can tolerate. A wrongly done massage can be painful. So always do the massage properly.
1) First take a small amount of massage cream in the hand and rub both hands and apply it to the entire client’s hand.
2) Place the hand on the manicure table and massage the fingernails with both thumbs. Also, press the pressure point on the palm of the hand by taking or using the thumb of both hands.
3) Start massaging each finger in a round circle with both your thumbs. All the five fingers of the hand should be massaged in this manner.
4) Each finger of the client’s hand should be massaged clockwise and anti-clockwise three times.
5) Massage the entire hand from bottom to top with proper pressure. While doing this massage, keeping the fingers of both hands together and keeping the thumbs on the sides, the pressure should be high while massaging in the upward direction. And the pressure should be less while coming down.
6) Take the client’s hand in your hand and rotate the hand completely clockwise and anti-clockwise from the wrist.
7) After the complete massage, keep the hand wrapped in a towel or napkin for five minutes.
The right way to apply nail paint –
Many times women and girls apply the nail paint in the wrong way and even take the nail paint from the bottle in the wrong way. Always apply two layers of nail paint.
While applying base coat nail paint and top coat nail paint –
While applying the basecoat and topcoat, first remove the old nail polish on the nails with the help of remover. If the nails are cut and the nails are rough, then the base coat should be applied on the nails first to make the nail paint smooth. Allow the basecoat to dry after application. And after that you should start applying nail paint if you want.
After opening the nail paint bottle, wipe one side of the bottle brush. And then brush the nail paint on the first center of the nails. After that, nail paint should be applied on both sides of the side. After applying nail paint to both hands, let the first layer of nail paint dry and then apply the second layer of nail paint in the same manner. After this finishing layer dries, apply a topcoat on the nails in this manner.
The nail paint on the side of the nails should be wiped off with the help of nail paint remover by wrapping cotton around the orange stick. Nail paint should be applied to all the nails in this manner. Hastily painted hands and nails look very beautiful. For that, the above method should be followed.
