1) Hair Remover 2) Electrolysis 3) Plucking 4) Razor 5) Waxing 6) Threading Various methods are commonly used. Some of the advantages and disadvantages of this method are as follows –

1) Plucking – A plucker or tweezer is a small metal tweezer that plucks out hairs one at a time. It is necessary to clean each time steaming as well as before breaking. This makes the hair roots loose. It is then pulled with tweezers in the direction of hair growth. Equal amount of hair is to be removed from both the sides. With the help of mirror, the size of both the sides has to be balanced. Plucking is a painful and time consuming treatment. This is why ‘plucking’ is used to maintain the threading between two treatments, following the shape of eyebrow threading.

2) Waxing – In this method of waxing, the eyebrows become sharper. But it is not possible to diversify the size. Because of this, this method is not used for eyebrow shaping in India.

3) Hair remover – These strong chemicals are known as depilating. In this, the hair is separated from the skin by breaking the bond of the hair. Since it contains base acid, it affects the hair as well as the skin. Continuous use can lead to skin darkening and skin cancer. If the skin becomes dark as its side effect, then it becomes difficult to recover. Apart from this, the hair that comes out does not join the root but comes from the surface and the hair comes out quickly. The incoming hairs are coarser than the first hairs. There for this method is not suitable when used in the facial area.

4) Razor – This method is popular among men. But rural girls use it to shape the eyebrows. Hair is removed from the skin with the help of a razor. This loss of skin is accompanied by hair. If this treatment is given repeatedly, the skin there will get filled with pus and pits and there is a possibility of infection. Surface hair comes out in two to three days after shaving. The hair that comes out sticks to the skin. This makes it difficult to give other treatments like threading. So this method is not suitable for eyebrows.

Since this is a time consuming and expensive method from the customer’s point of view, only a few people can do it on the face. Considering the disadvantages of all the above methods, threading method is more popular in India.

6) Threading – Threading method is popular for eyebrows. Coats thread of number 40 is used to shape it.
